CERES
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 September 2026
Overview
Ceres is a food barcode scanner. It is designed to keep personal data on your device and does not require an account.
On your device
The following stay on your phone unless you export or share them yourself:
- Product scan history (barcode, name, score snapshot, image URL when available)
- Favorites and optional notes
- App settings (including allergen watch preferences)
Camera
The camera is used only to decode barcodes. Image frames are not uploaded. Only the decoded barcode digits are sent when looking up a product.
Open Food Facts
When you scan or reopen a product, Ceres sends the barcode number to
Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve product
details such as name, brand, Nutri-Score, NOVA group, additives, ingredients, allergens,
and related fields.
See the Open Food Facts privacy policy for how they handle requests.
Sharing and exports
If you use Share, Export history, or open a product on Open Food Facts, those actions are initiated by you and may leave your device through the OS share sheet or your browser.
Ads and analytics
This build does not include advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting SDKs.
Children
Ceres is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the app to submit personal information about anyone under 13.
